Diabetes is a medical condition where there is a reliative lack or NO insulin action within the patient's body. Where there is NO action of insulin, then diabetes is known as type 1, and where there is a reduced insulin action then this is known as type 2.
 

People who may have diabetes would have the following symptoms, but these may NOT be conclussive, further examination and tests will have to be taken out by your doctor to enable to assess formal diagnosis. If you have the following symptoms then contact your doctor as early as you can, so that formal assessment can be carried out.

Symptoms of Type 1 Diabetes

  • Frequent urination
  • Unusual thirst
  • Extreme hunger
  • Unusual weight loss
  • Extreme fatigue and Irritability

Symptoms of Type 2 Diabetes*

  • Any of the type 1 symptoms
  • Frequent infections
  • Blurred vision
  • Cuts/bruises that are slow to heal
  • Tingling/numbness in the hands/feet
  • Recurring skin, gum, or bladder infections

NB: Often people with type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes may have no symptoms
